It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to help a business with their online marketing and THEN upsell them to a full-blown consultation agreement.
In it's barest form, you help the business owner QUICKLY get some customers or SAVE money to prove your credibility. Then you ask to sit down with them for a few minutes to show them how to build their business even further.
Using their OWN numbers, you can show them how to dramatically grow and BE READY for a buy out in just a short time.
Ain't no recession 'round here.
Cheers,
Millard

If you can show them the results they will get and make it believable they will buy. Gina

What's exciting is that when you show just a tiny, teeny result, the business owners get fired up.
If you can just sit down and show some simple numbers and how small tweaks will increase their bottom line, they are ready to, at least, try a small project.

I would start with putting some video up for them, with a lead capture page.
Hope this helps.

Great advice Millard and you can use Traffic Geyser and good keyword rich titles to send that out virally. Gina

I have been testing some things on Traffic Geyser with good results. Put up a video in a very niche market and in 2 HOURS got the TOP spot on Google video for that keyword. Video is the way to go. BTW... as a SHAMELESS PLUG... I got a nice article written about my performing career at http://www.stevensmagic.com. Just click on my picture! Cheers, Millard

Millard- Thanks for the suggestion. What would you charge per video to clients?

I charged my most recent client $1500 to put up a website, host it, and send a photographer to her place for some photos to use on the site. I paid the photographer $150, did the work myself for about four hours work TOTAL (includes appointment to set up sale, set up Aweber, set up web site, 3 phone calls, and 2 store visits).
Over $300 per hour... not bad!
As for charging for the videos... figure what it will cost to do the videos, either you or someone else, add for your time and add for your expertise. Every case is different. Do what works for you and the client.
If the client cannot come up with a BIG payment, offer a smaller down-payment with a fixed amount per month over time. Or you could go with a higher monthly.... in any case, you are hosting the video, the site, etc., if the client doesn't pay...... you hold the strings.
Warmly,
Millard

You might want to go to http://www.offlineblueprint.com to see how you can get some more help making MORE money with OFFLINE clients. Frankly, websites, auto-responders, web video, etc., are JUST THE TIP of the iceberg! You get in the door with your web expertise, make some money, THEN offer to help with more brick-and-mortar techniques that will make you TRIPLE what you make with the online stuff. 'Nuff said.
